Adverse Weather Conditions

Running a Competition in Adverse Weather Conditions?

During the winter months many clubs may find they have to contend with periods of inclement weather, both before and during competitions.

Some golf clubs may also find that these conditions may not always be confined to the winter but can present themselves during the summer period.

All golf club committees should be conversant with the R&A guidelines set out in its publication ‘GUIDANCE ON RUNNING A COMPETITION’  and especially  section 6-8 ‘Inclement weather and suspension of play’

However, an excellent publication from Scottish Golf summarises some of the options that are open to Golf Clubs and Committees to help cope with the impact of such conditions on competitions and subsequent course conditions.
