Confused about Rules of Golf and Universal Handicapping System?
Are you confused about Rules of Golf and Universal Handicapping System? Then welcome to My Golf, where I hope we can, through regular posts and information pages, help to de-mystify some of the Rules of Golf and explain CONGU Handicapping issues that you, and I may have come across during our rounds of golf, whether they were social or competition rounds.
Many websites deal directly with the Rules of Golf and, though very informative, can be a little heavy to understand. The accent on this website will be on basic everyday rules, Handicapping changes that are being introduced in January 2018 and Modernised R&A Rules of Golf planned to be introduced in January 2019.
The year ahead is exciting for golf, as the R&A and CONGU look toward making golf more enjoyable for all abilities, bringing common sense into the Rules of Golf so that they will be more easily understood and introducing new CONGU Handicap Categories for players new to golf and players, for whatever reason, finding they are currently struggling with their game.
Clubs will be looking differently as to how they will implement these changes, but, if new categories are integrated into club competitions, via perhaps new divisions, players within these categories will at least feel they can compete against their peers and at least stand a chance of winning a competition, something they feel they have never been able to do so under the present Handicapping System.
Using your experiences, questions and feedback, the website will become a personal site of information for you as a first port-of-call when you have a Rule of Golf query or perhaps questions about CONGU Universal Handicapping System or running competitions.
As information filters through I will update the Blog with details of the Rules of Golf 2019, that came into effect on January 1st 2019, and the World Handicap System, due to be introduced in March 2020.
